Construction |
Wings Strut-braced, fabric covered, two-spar wood construction with NACA 2412
airfoil spruce ribs, internally braced with steel tubes and drag wires.
Leading and trailing edges aluminum covered.
Ailerons and flaps, both Handley Page slotted type, of welded steel tube
construction with fabric covering.
Except for Mk V, ailerons interconnected with flaps to droop to 15.5
degrees with flaps, retaining full differential movement.
Flaps alone drop to 40 degrees. Fuselage Welded steel tube truss structure faired with steel tube frames and
spruce stringers.
Forward fuselage and under section to back of cabin aluminum covered. Empennage Fin,
rudder and elevators of fabric covered welded steel tube construction.
Fixed, ground adjustable trim tab on
rudder and controllable trim tabs on elevator.
Stabilizer of fabric covered spruce construction with steel tube and drag wire internal
bracing. Braced to
fin and fuselage with double streamlined
wires. Landing Gear Main Wheels 31inch diameter tires on cantilever oleo-pneumatic shock absorber legs, with hydraulic brakes. Tail Wheel 13.5 inch diameter tire on oil dampened, spring action, cantilever
strut. Floats Edo, type YA, 6235 lb buoyancy, on Mk I & Mk II.
Edo type Yd, 6470 lbs buoyancy, on Mk III,
Mk IV and Mk VI (& early UC-64).
Edo type 55-7170A, on UC-64 and Mk V. |
Accommodation |
Pilot and
copilot or passenger, side by side in cockpit.
Throw-over control column, or dual Y-type wheel control column (Mk VI
only). Provision for up to 8 passengers on bench seats in heated cabin.
